Infectious Illness (COVID, Influenza, etc.)

Overview

RPM 234 - Learn how to monitor patients who have an infectious illness such as the flu or Covid-19 by using remote patient monitoring devices.  You will be able to discern specific needs of the infected patient, such as the need for isolation, and watch for warning signs of serious illness.

Upon badge attainment, trainees will be able to do the following: 

  1. Define common types of infectious illnesses
  2. Be able to explain the symptoms and diagnoses of common types of infectious illnesses
  3. Take vital signs using RPM devices needed to monitor the specific type of infectious illness the patient has
  4. Assist with medication adherence and management
  5. Document all symptoms using RPM equipment and communicate with the nurse or physician, as needed
  6. Assist with isolation procedures for each type of the patients served
  7. Educate the patient about infection prevention measures
  8. Read and explain health charts of a patient with common infectious illnesses
  9. Distinguish between the disease management program settings for each type of the infectious diseases
