Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Overview

RPM 208 - Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common chronic illness that can be managed properly with remote patient monitoring (RPM). Learn how to educate the patient about this illness, help with medication adherence, and communicate with the healthcare team. This course will teach you to use an RPM disease management program to help patients avoid critical danger zones.

Trainees will be able to work with clients who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and use RPM.  At the end of the badge, trainees will be able to do the following:  

  1. Define COPD  
  2. Explain the basic diagnosis/symptoms of COPD  
  3. Educate patient about how COPD is a serious chronic illness but one that can be managed with monitoring  
  4. Evaluate a health chart of a patient with COPD  
  5. Be able to enter data into RPM for monitoring of a patient with COPD (with DMP)
  6. Evaluate DMP data of a patient with COPD (at critical junctions)
