The DrKumo Academy Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program prepares apprentices to support patients in both traditional and virtual care environments. The program combines supervised on-the-job training with structured online instruction focused on medical assisting fundamentals, patient communication, clinical workflows, digital health tools, Remote Patient Monitoring-Home Telehealth, Disease Management Protocol support, and Activities of Daily Living support.

Through DrKumo Academy, apprentices learn how to support care teams, communicate with patients, document health information, assist with digital health devices, and help improve patient engagement in chronic disease care.

Today’s care teams need healthcare workers who understand both patient-centered service and connected health technology. This apprenticeship is built to help learners develop practical medical assistant skills while gaining exposure to the tools used in telehealth, Remote Patient Monitoring, wearable devices, mobile health, EHR systems, cybersecurity, and AI-supported healthcare workflows.

Apprentices will learn to:

  • Support patients during in-person and virtual care interactions.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling, intake, documentation, and medical records.
  • Measure and document vital signs and patient health information.
  • Help patients set up and use Remote Patient Monitoring devices.
  • Support Activities of Daily Living assessments and patient independence.
  • Use teach-back, motivational interviewing, and culturally competent communication.
  • Document patient encounters using EHR workflows and SOAP-style notes.
  • Escalate patient concerns according to protocol and under supervision.

Upon registration, apprentices receive login access to DrKumo Academy course materials. The current DrKumo Academy sign-up page supports new account creation and collects core account information such as username, password, email, name, city/town, country, and how the learner heard about the program.

Train Under Supervision

Selected apprentices complete supervised on-the-job learning while progressing through related instruction and competency checks.

Complete Competencies and Final Requirements

Apprentices complete required competencies, coursework, assessments, and final program requirements before completion review.

Apprentice FAQ

Who can apply?
Applicants who are at least 18 years old and meet the program’s selection requirements may apply. Apprenticeship participation is subject to review, employer availability, and program requirements.
How long is the program?
The apprenticeship is designed to be completed in approximately 12 months, with approximately 2,000 hours of supervised on-the-job training and 188 hours of related instruction.
Is the coursework online?
Yes. DrKumo Academy’s current platform supports self-paced online learning, and the uploaded one-pager describes interactive pre-recorded video modules, quizzes, case studies, and 24/7 access through the online platform.
What score do I need to advance through coursework?
The one-pager states that apprentices must achieve at least 80% on quizzes to advance and must pass a comprehensive final exam to earn a course certificate.
What will I learn?

Does registration guarantee apprenticeship employment?
